The TCS Girls and Boys basketball programs have been a part of our school for many years. We are honored each year to continue to build upon the legacy of success of those teams that have come before us. We measure success through hard work, effort, and dedication to team work. Our program expects and demands Christ like attitudes on and off the court from our players. Furthermore, we expect our athletes to excel in the classroom. We are a competitive program playing in the Blue Ridge Mountain Conference.
Our program has had great competitive success over the past several years as well. Both girls and boy’s teams have set school records for wins several times between 2009 and 2017. Our girls team has won five BRMC Regular Season Championships in a row. They have also won four BRMC Tournament Championships in a row. The girl’s team finished undefeated with a record of 12-0 last season. The boy’s teams have won the BRMC Regular season championships two years in a row. Winning their first BRMC Tournament Championship last season along with two second place finishes in the past four years. The boy’s team set a school record for wins last season with an undefeated record of 14-0. We believe athletics teaches more than how to play a sport. Athletics, through our basketball program, teaches them traits and characteristics that will enable them to be successful citizens. It will prepare them to make a smooth transition as leaders when they move on to high school in the coming years. The team has been coached by Ron Wilkins for the past 15 seasons. Terri Parton serves as assistant coach for the past 8 seasons.
Currently the basketball program is open to students in grades fifth through eighth.
